Project Veer Gatha 5.0 has recorded its highest participation since inception, with more than 1.92 crore school students from all 36 States and Union Territories taking part. Launched in 2021, the initiative aims to instil patriotism by encouraging students to learn about the bravery and sacrifice of India's gallantry award recipients and historical warriors. Students submitted creative works including poems, paintings, essays and videos celebrating courage and leadership. This edition witnessed a historic milestone with the inclusion of Indian schools abroad, expanding the project's reach internationally. The Ministry of Defence coordinated awareness sessions with field units of the Army, Navy and Air Force. Winners will be felicitated jointly by the Ministries of Education and Defence, continuing the tradition of recognising young talent and promoting the values enshrined in NEP 2020.

Record Participation and Growing Reach

Project Veer Gatha has seen remarkable growth in student participation since its launch. The first edition attracted 8.03 lakh students, followed by 19.5 lakh in the second year, 1.36 crore in the third, and 1.76 crore in the fourth edition. The current edition recorded 1.92 crore participants, making it the largest yet. Schools conducted activities from 8 September to 10 November 2025 and uploaded their best four entries to the MyGov portal. This year also marks the project's international expansion, with Indian schools abroad joining for the first time. Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla, an Indian Air Force test pilot, delivered a motivational message encouraging students to embody bravery and resilience. The initiative aligns with NEP 2020's vision of experiential and project-based learning.
