Hombale Films, the production house behind blockbuster movies like K.G.F., Kantara, and Salaar, is reportedly interested in acquiring a stake in the Indian Premier League franchise Royal Challengers Bengaluru. Current owner Diageo India is believed to be considering selling the team ahead of IPL 2026. Although no official announcement has been made, preliminary talks between Hombale and Diageo have reportedly taken place. The production house has been RCB's official digital partner since April 2023, creating promotional content and match teasers. RCB's valuation has surged to approximately USD 2 billion (around INR 17,000 crore) after their maiden IPL title victory in 2025. Other potential buyers include Zerodha co-founder Nikhil Kamath, Adani Group, JSW Group, Serum Institute's Adar Poonawalla, and Devyani International. The deal could strengthen RCB's connection with Karnataka's cricket-loving audience.

Several high-profile investors are reportedly eyeing the Royal Challengers Bengaluru franchise. Apart from Hombale Films, other potential buyers include Nikhil Kamath (Zerodha co-founder), Adani Group, JSW Group, Adar Poonawalla of Serum Institute, and Devyani International. The franchise, currently owned by Diageo India, is valued at around USD 2 billion (approximately INR 17,000 crore) following their championship win in IPL 2025. If Hombale Films, led by Vijay Kiragandur, successfully acquires the team, it could create a powerful synergy between Karnataka's strong cricketing culture and the influential Kannada film industry. This partnership is expected to boost popularity for both cricket and cinema in the region ahead of the upcoming IPL 2026 season, strengthening local fan engagement significantly.
