Hombale Films, the production house behind blockbuster films like K.G.F., Kantara, and Salaar, is reportedly interested in acquiring a stake in the Indian Premier League franchise Royal Challengers Bengaluru. Current owner Diageo India is considering selling the team ahead of IPL 2026. Preliminary discussions between Hombale and Diageo have reportedly taken place, though no official confirmation has been issued. Hombale has partnered with RCB as their official digital partner since April 2023, creating promotional content and match teasers. RCB's valuation surged to around USD 2 billion after winning their first IPL title in 2025. Other potential buyers include Zerodha co-founder Nikhil Kamath, Adani Group, JSW Group, Serum Institute's Adar Poonawalla, and Devyani International. The deal could strengthen RCB's connection with Karnataka's cricket-loving audience by linking the state's cricketing culture with its thriving Kannada film industry.

Multiple Parties Eye RCB Ownership Ahead of IPL 2026
Hombale Films, led by Vijay Kiragandur, is not alone in pursuing RCB. Several high-profile investors are competing for ownership. Zerodha co-founder Nikhil Kamath, Adani Group, JSW Group, Serum Institute's Adar Poonawalla, and Devyani International are also potential buyers. The franchise's valuation reached approximately USD 2 billion (about INR 17,000 crore) after their championship victory in IPL 2025. If Hombale successfully acquires the team, the merger of Karnataka's deep cricketing tradition with one of Kannada cinema's leading production houses could significantly boost popularity for both parties. RCB, now captained by Rajat Patidar, defeated Punjab Kings in the final and retained key players including Virat Kohli, Phil Salt, and Josh Hazlewood for the upcoming mega auction.
