Authorised Sources for Genuine NCERT Textbooks

2 min read

The Central Board of Secondary Education has issued an urgent warning to all its affiliated schools about the growing circulation of counterfeit NCERT textbooks in the market. The board received multiple reports indicating that unauthorised sellers are distributing fake versions of these essential textbooks, often attracting buyers with lower prices. These counterfeit copies are of inferior physical quality and contain serious flaws including printing mistakes and content errors that can directly harm students' learning and academic progress. Schools have been instructed to take immediate action by informing parents and ensuring that only genuine NCERT books from officially recognised sources are used. The advisory emphasises that strict compliance is necessary to protect academic integrity and provide students with accurate, reliable learning materials. School heads must share this information with their entire community including teachers, parents, and students.

Authorised Sources for Genuine NCERT Textbooks

CBSE has provided a clear list of approved channels where authentic NCERT textbooks can be purchased safely. Parents and schools should buy books only from NCERT Regional Production and Distribution Centres, which operate across the country. Other legitimate sources include authorised vendors whose names appear on the official NCERT website, and the NCERT Postal Supply Service accessible through the NCERT online portal. Additionally, books can be ordered from the official NCERT Amazon storefront. Schools procuring textbooks directly are required to use only these recognised sources. For guidance or support, schools can reach out to their nearest Regional Production and Distribution Centre.
