Former South African cricketer Hashim Amla has praised his team's preparation ahead of the upcoming Test series against India. He believes that South Africa's recent tour to Pakistan, where they played a two-match Test series that ended 1-1, has provided valuable practice for facing India's spin and pace attack. Amla commended Cricket South Africa for resting Test players from white-ball formats, allowing them to remain fresh and focused. The first Test between India and South Africa is scheduled to begin on November 14 at Eden Gardens. The 41-year-old former batter, who has been part of many memorable India-South Africa encounters, feels both teams are evenly matched. Interestingly, he suggested that having inexperienced players touring India for the first time might actually benefit the Proteas, as they bring a fresh perspective to the challenge.

Preparation and Fresh Squad Could Favor South Africa
Amla highlighted that playing Test cricket in Pakistan against quality spinners and seamers was ideal preparation for the India tour. He appreciated the decision to keep Test specialists away from one-day cricket, ensuring they remain in Test mode. Both teams possess strong bowling attacks with capable seamers and spinners, making the contest closely balanced. The ability to score big runs will prove crucial for success. Despite South Africa fielding some inexperienced players making their first tour to India, Amla believes this lack of baggage might work favorably for the visiting side as they approach the series with fewer preconceptions.
