Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma distributed appointment letters to 5,550 TET-qualified candidates for Lower Primary and Upper Primary teacher positions at a ceremony held at the Veterinary College Playground, Khanapara, Guwahati. Of these, 3,800 were appointed as Lower Primary teachers and 1,750 as Upper Primary teachers. During the event, he also handed out 8,799 tablets to teachers under the Shikshak Samal Package and launched distribution of 4,280 tablets to students under the Aarohan Scheme. The Chief Minister highlighted that his government has appointed over 1.26 lakh candidates so far, exceeding the promised one lakh jobs target. He emphasized that the recruitment process was transparent and merit-based, eliminating the corruption and political favoritism that plagued earlier appointment drives. The government aims to cross 1.5 lakh appointments soon while supporting industrial and educational growth across the state.

Transparent Recruitment and Government Achievement
Chief Minister Sarma stated that his government has appointed 1,21,243 candidates across education, health, and police departments before this event. With the addition of 5,550 new teachers, the total has reached 1,26,793 appointments. He noted that earlier governments rarely provided more than 20,000-25,000 jobs and often faced corruption allegations and court challenges. Since the 1980s, political favoritism made government recruitment complex in Assam. However, his administration formed a cabinet committee to ensure a transparent, merit-based selection process. The opposition no longer questions recruitment procedures, and legal challenges have disappeared. The government is committed to crossing the 1.5 lakh mark soon, supporting youth through both employment and self-employment schemes.
