Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi held a press conference on Wednesday, alleging irregularities in the Haryana assembly elections. He claimed a Brazilian model's photograph appeared 22 times across different polling booths with varying names like Seema, Sweety, and Saraswati. Following this national attention, social media users mistakenly identified the woman as Larissa Bonesi, a Brazilian model and rumoured girlfriend of filmmaker Aryan Khan. Her Instagram posts were flooded with comments congratulating her on newfound fame and supporting Gandhi's allegations. Meanwhile, another Brazilian model named Larissa Nery claimed to be the actual woman shown in Gandhi's press conference. Bonesi, who has worked in India for over a decade, has not responded to the confusion. The incident highlights how mistaken identity on social media led to unintended consequences for the 31-year-old model.

Social Media Confusion and Mistaken Identity

After Gandhi's allegations gained attention, numerous Indians flooded Larissa Bonesi's Instagram with comments and pictures of the Congress leader. One popular comment reading "You are famous in India" received almost 200 likes by Thursday afternoon. Others jokingly referred to her as a 'BJP voter from Brazil' and congratulated her on receiving Indian citizenship. Bonesi has not addressed these comments. Some of her followers attempted to clarify that she is not the woman featured in Gandhi's press conference. The actual person claiming to be the model shown is Larissa Nery, another Brazilian model, who posted screenshots and a video addressing the situation. However, confused users continued targeting the more popular namesake instead.
