Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna's supernatural thriller has crossed the ₹125 crore mark worldwide but has sparked debate over its inclusion of three bold item songs. Directed by Aditya Sarpotdar and produced by Maddock Films, the movie is part of the expanding horror-comedy universe. The film released on October 21, 2025, and features Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Paresh Rawal in key roles. The story centers on Alok, a journalist whose life changes after meeting Tadaka, a mysterious woman from an ancient clan of Betals, mythological vampire-like beings. What begins as an unusual encounter evolves into a saga of love and transformation, leading to a battle against the powerful Betal leader Yakshashan. While the film has performed well commercially, the musical choices have divided audiences and triggered online discussions about the creative direction.

Director Aditya Sarpotdar, who previously made the successful film Munjya, responded to the backlash by explaining that the songs serve a narrative purpose. He told SCREEN that these tracks are marketing tools that help draw audiences in, but what matters is the overall experience. Sarpotdar emphasized that the songs appear when the story naturally unfolds through them, and the film was never intended to be just an item number showcase. He pointed out that similar tracks in his earlier work, like Taras in Munjya and Aaj Ki Raat, were well-received without any complaints. The director believes the vampire world of the film required more extravagance, and he is pleased audiences watched the movie despite initial judgments.
