2 min read

The Taj Story, starring Paresh Rawal, released in theatres on October 31 and has shown steady performance at the box office. The film opened to a respectable reception during the weekend but experienced a decline in weekday collections. Despite this drop, it continues to attract audiences due to its compelling narrative and performances. By its fifth day, the movie earned ₹1.35 crore, taking the total collection to ₹8.16 crore. The film recorded an overall Hindi occupancy of 28.68 per cent on Tuesday, with night shows achieving the highest attendance at 56.71 per cent. As it approaches the ₹10 crore milestone, the film faces fresh competition from new releases like Haq and The Girlfriend over the upcoming weekend. Produced on a budget of approximately ₹25 crore, the movie still has a considerable distance to cover before recovering its production costs.

Cast, Plot and Box Office Prospects

Directed by Tushar Amrish Goel and produced by Suresh Jha, The Taj Story follows Vishnu Das, a local guide investigating the true history of the Taj Mahal. The courtroom drama features Paresh Rawal, Zakir Hussain, Amruta Khanvilkar, and Namit Das in significant roles. With a runtime of two hours and forty-five minutes and music by Rohit Sharma, the film blends drama, mystery, and emotion effectively. Although weekday viewership declined, the provocative storyline continues to resonate with audiences. The movie's ability to sustain momentum against new competition will determine whether it crosses the ₹10 crore mark this weekend and gradually moves toward recovering its production budget.
