2 min read

Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz are returning to The Mummy franchise for the fourth instalment, as reported by Variety. The original lead pair will reunite after appearing together 24 years ago. Directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, known for Ready or Not and reviving Scream in 2022, will helm the project. Fans have expressed excitement over the comeback. The 1999 reboot starred Fraser as a treasure hunter and Weisz as an archaeologist battling a cursed Egyptian priest in 1930s Egypt. A sequel followed in 2001, but Weisz did not return for the 2008 third film. Universal's 2017 attempt to revive the series with Tom Cruise failed commercially. Fraser won an Oscar for The Whale in 2022, while Weisz won awards for The Constant Gardener and The Favourite. Both actors have maintained successful careers in recent years.
