A case of harassment and assault has come to light from Bettiah town in West Champaran district, where a young woman was molested late at night while she went outside her home. When the victim and her family members protested against the incident, they were physically attacked by the accused. Following the complaint, police at the city police station registered a First Information Report against five named accused and launched an investigation into the matter. The incident occurred around 12:30 AM when the woman stepped out of her house to use the toilet. According to the FIR, one of the accused blocked her path and attempted to behave inappropriately with her. When she resisted, he grabbed her, pushed her forcefully, and tried to tear her clothes. Her cries for help brought family members to the scene, but the situation escalated further. The accused and his associates then allegedly attacked the family members as well, leaving two people injured. The family has alleged that this assault was a result of an old dispute and enmity, claiming it was carried out in a planned manner. Police have taken the matter seriously and are conducting raids to apprehend the absconding accused.

A young woman left her house to relieve herself when one of the accused, identified as Rajesh Ram, blocked her way. He attempted to misbehave with her and made inappropriate advances. When the woman protested and tried to resist, the accused forcibly grabbed her, pushed her down, and attempted to pull at her clothing. The victim raised an alarm, shouting for help, which alerted her family members inside the house. They quickly rushed outside to rescue her from the accused. The situation, however, did not end there as it escalated into a violent confrontation between the accused group and the victim's family members, leading to further chaos and injuries.

Family Members Assaulted After Protesting

After the victim's family members arrived at the scene to help her, the accused did not back down. Instead, Rajesh Ram called his associates to the spot. Along with Akhilesh Ram, Dinesh Ram, Suresh Ram, and another unidentified person, they launched a brutal attack on the family members who had come to the woman's aid. The group assaulted them physically, resulting in injuries to two people from the victim's family. The family has alleged that the attack was not a random act of violence but was carried out deliberately due to an old grudge and ongoing dispute between them and the accused. They claim that the accused had been looking for an opportunity to settle scores and used this incident as a pretext to carry out a planned assault. The victims sustained injuries during the scuffle and required medical attention.

Police Register FIR Against Five Accused

Following the incident, the victim lodged a formal written complaint at the city police station in Bettiah. Based on her statement, the police registered an FIR against five named individuals. The accused have been identified as Rajesh Ram, Akhilesh Ram, Dinesh Ram, Suresh Ram, and one other person, all residents of Baswariya Ward Number 1 in Bettiah. City police station in-charge Manoj Kumar Singh confirmed that a case has been filed and a thorough investigation has been initiated. The police are treating the matter with seriousness given the nature of the allegations, which include molestation and violent assault. Charges under relevant sections of the law have been invoked against the accused. The authorities are working to gather evidence and statements from witnesses to strengthen the case and ensure justice for the victim and her family.

Accused Absconding, Police Conduct Raids

According to police officials, all five accused named in the FIR are currently absconding and have not been arrested yet. The police have launched an extensive manhunt to locate and apprehend them. Multiple teams have been formed, and continuous raids are being conducted at possible hideouts and locations where the accused might be sheltering. Station in-charge Manoj Kumar Singh stated that efforts are underway to trace the accused at the earliest. The police are also questioning local residents and gathering information about the movements of the accused since the incident. Given the severity of the charges and the nature of the crime, authorities are determined to arrest the perpetrators soon. The police have assured the victim's family that appropriate action will be taken and the accused will be brought to justice once they are apprehended.
