A heavily intoxicated man created a major disturbance in Varanasi on Tuesday night by climbing atop a pillar near Harishchandra Ghat. The individual, identified as 32-year-old Akshadeep Hudda from Rohtak, Haryana, climbed the gate pillar of Shakti Dham Ashram and began shouting abuses. When Bhelupur police arrived to bring him down, the situation turned violent. Station officer Manoj Singh Rajput climbed a ladder to reason with the man, but was pushed off from approximately eight feet height, causing him to fall to the ground. The intoxicated man also fell shortly after, sustaining injuries from hitting the gate. When police attempted to transport him to BHU Trauma Center for treatment, he tried to escape. Officers had to tie his hands with rope and take him via e-rickshaw. A medical examination is being conducted.

Police Officer Pushed During Rescue Attempt
Bhelupur police received information about the incident near Harishchandra Ghat. Station officer Manoj Singh Rajput and a constable reached the spot and attempted to persuade the man to come down safely. When verbal reasoning failed, the officer placed a ladder against the pillar and climbed up. However, the intoxicated individual suddenly pushed him, causing Rajput to fall from around eight feet onto the ground below. Shortly afterward, during further attempts to bring him down, the man himself fell and hit the gate, suffering multiple injuries. Station in-charge Sudhir Kumar Tripathi confirmed that the individual was extremely intoxicated. He was identified as Akshadeep Hudda, a 32-year-old resident of Rohtak district in Haryana. Medical examination procedures are currently underway.
