2 min read

On the occasion of Kartik Purnima, thousands of devotees gathered at the Ganga ghats in Patna for holy baths and prayers, causing severe traffic congestion across the city. Major roads including Digha AIIMS-Patliputra Path Road witnessed jams stretching up to 3.5 kilometers, with vehicles moving slowly and school buses stuck in the chaos. Similar traffic disruptions were reported on Atal Path, Ghudadaud Road, Digha Chowk, Digha Ashiana Road, and the Patna-Bakhtiyarpur State Highway. The Patna Municipal Corporation prepared around 30 ghats across five zones with three-layer barricading and security arrangements. Devotees believe that taking a dip in the Ganga on this auspicious day brings the merit of bathing throughout the year and washes away sins. According to astrologer Pandit Rakesh Jha, donations and lamp offerings on Kartik Purnima bring spiritual benefits and divine blessings from Lord Vishnu.
