Actor Govinda has publicly apologised after his wife Sunita Ahuja made critical comments about their family priest during a podcast appearance. In a video statement shared on Instagram Stories, Govinda condemned Sunita's remarks as inappropriate and expressed deep respect for Pandit Mukesh Shukla, who has supported the family during difficult times. Sunita had appeared on Paras Chaabra's podcast where she called their family priest fake and accused him of charging excessive fees for rituals, stating she does not believe in such practices. She also criticised the people around Govinda, calling them foolish advisors who mislead him. The couple, who married privately in March 1987, have two children together—daughter Tina Ahuja and son Yashvardhan Ahuja. This incident comes amid ongoing rumours about their relationship difficulties. Govinda emphasised the priest's long connection with their family and his expertise in his public apology.

During her appearance on Paras Chaabra's podcast, Sunita Ahuja made strong statements against their family priest, calling him fake and accusing him of repeatedly suggesting expensive rituals for ₹2 lakh or ₹10 lakh. She expressed disbelief in such practices, stating it is better to pray personally rather than relying on others' donations or rituals. Sunita also criticised the circle of people around Govinda, calling them foolish advisors who give terrible suggestions and turn him against her.
