Actor Celina Jaitly has approached the Delhi High Court seeking help to secure the release of her brother, Maj (Retd) Vikrant Kumar Jaitly, who has been detained in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, since September 6, 2024. Justice Sachin Datta heard the plea and issued a notice to the Ministry of External Affairs, directing officials to appoint a nodal officer to coordinate communication between the family and UAE authorities. Vikrant, who retired from the armed forces in 2016, was running a cybersecurity firm in Dubai with his wife. He was reportedly detained from a shopping mall parking lot. Celina could not reach her brother for 22 days before learning about his detention from his wife. The court has asked the government to file a status report before the next hearing on December 4. Celina has expressed faith in the Indian government and judiciary to bring her brother home safely.
