Actor Celina Jaitly has approached the Delhi High Court seeking assistance to secure the release of her brother, Maj (Retd) Vikrant Kumar Jaitly, who has been detained in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, since September 6, 2024. Justice Sachin Datta heard her plea and issued notice to the Ministry of External Affairs, directing officials to appoint a nodal officer to coordinate communication between the family and UAE authorities. Vikrant, who retired from the armed forces in 2016, was running a cybersecurity firm in Dubai with his wife. The incident occurred when he went shopping with his wife at Emirates Mall, Abu Dhabi. He was reportedly taken away by two individuals in the parking lot. Celina remained unable to contact him for 22 days before learning of his detention. The court has asked the government to file a status report before the next hearing on December 4.
