The Leeds-based franchise in The Hundred will now compete as Sunrisers Leeds from the 2026 season onwards. Previously known as Northern Superchargers, the team was recently bought by Sun Group, a media conglomerate that also controls Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League and Sunrisers Eastern Cape in South Africa's SA20. The rebranding aligns the franchise with Sun Group's global Sunrisers identity across multiple cricket leagues. Information about the name change was officially disclosed to the Bombay Stock Exchange and National Stock Exchange following SEBI regulations. Other franchises in The Hundred are also expected to undergo similar transformations, including Manchester Originals and Oval Invincibles. The tournament itself will introduce an auction-based player recruitment system, with squads ranging from 16 to 18 players and a maximum of four overseas cricketers allowed per team.

Other Franchises Set for Rebranding in The Hundred
Manchester Originals and Oval Invincibles are among other franchises expected to change their names. The RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group, which holds a major stake in Manchester Originals, is likely to rename the team Manchester Super Giants, matching their IPL franchise Lucknow Super Giants. Meanwhile, Oval Invincibles will probably become MI London after Reliance Industries Limited acquired a stake in the franchise in 2024. Oval Invincibles have been the most successful team in The Hundred's five-year history, winning five titles combined across men's and women's competitions. Reliance Industries already operates several T20 franchises worldwide, including Mumbai Indians, MI Cape Town, MI Emirates, and MI New York.
