Actor Celina Jaitly has approached the Delhi High Court seeking help to secure the release of her brother, retired Major Vikrant Kumar Jaitly, who has been detained in Abu Dhabi under unclear circumstances since September 6, 2024. Justice Sachin Datta has issued a notice to the Ministry of External Affairs and directed officials to appoint a nodal officer for coordination with UAE authorities. Vikrant, who retired from the armed forces in 2016, was running a cybersecurity firm in Dubai with his wife Charul. He was reportedly detained while shopping at Emirates Mall. After 22 days of no contact, Celina learned about the detention from his wife. The court has scheduled the next hearing for December 4 and asked the government to submit a status report. Celina expressed gratitude to the judiciary and confidence that the government will support her brother's safe return home.

Justice Sachin Datta heard the petition filed by Celina Jaitly through advocate Raghav Kacker and issued notice to the Ministry of External Affairs. The court directed officials to appoint a nodal officer to facilitate communication between the family and authorities in the UAE. A status report has been requested before the next hearing on December 4. According to the lawyer, this is an unprecedented repatriation case involving the UAE, but hopes remain high because Vikrant is an ex-Army personnel and UN peacekeeper. Celina expressed faith in the government and judiciary, noting that her brother suffers from lifelong injuries sustained during Special Forces duty and deserves the nation's support for his safe return.
