2 min read

A viral video showing Union Minister Lalan Singh allegedly asking people to prevent certain leaders from leaving their homes on voting day has landed him in trouble. The Election Commission has registered a case against him for violating the Model Code of Conduct. Singh made these controversial remarks while campaigning in Mokama for JD(U) candidate Anant Singh, who is currently in Beur jail in connection with the Dularchand Yadav murder case. RJD questioned the Election Commission about this statement. Meanwhile, Singh continued his election campaign by conducting a 13-kilometre road show from Aunta to Bahapur. Earlier, another case was filed against him and Deputy CM Samrat Choudhary for using more vehicles than permitted during a 30-kilometre road show. Both leaders face charges for violating election norms.

Cases Filed for Election Code Violations

The Election Commission registered a case against Lalan Singh following his controversial statement about restricting leaders on voting day. Another case was filed against him and Deputy CM Samrat Choudhary on Wednesday for using excess vehicles during their road show. Permission was granted for only 10 vehicles, but their convoy included 48 vehicles. Patna SSP Kartikeya Sharma confirmed the action, stating that organizers of the campaign were also booked and unauthorized vehicles were seized. Singh conducted another 13-kilometre road show on Thursday from Aunta village through Hathidah, Maranchi, Rampur Dumra, and Jalalpur to Bahapur, taking charge of campaigning after Anant Singh's imprisonment.
