The Delhi High Court has directed the Government of India to file a status report and appointed a nodal officer in the case of Major (Retd.) Vikrant Kumar Jaitly, who has been detained in the UAE for over a year. His sister, former actor Celina Jaitly, expressed gratitude and hope following the court's decision on Monday. The court ordered the government to provide effective legal representation and facilitate contact between Celina and her brother. Major Vikrant, from the 3 Para Special Forces, has been residing in the UAE since 2016 and was employed with the MATITI Group. Celina filed a writ petition stating that despite his detention for more than a year, the Centre had not provided basic information about his legal status or welfare. She emphasized that her brother, a fourth-generation soldier and holder of the COAS Commendation for Gallantry, deserves government protection and urged authorities to bring him home safely.

Court Orders and Celina's Emotional Appeal
After 14 months of struggle, Celina Jaitly shared an emotional note on social media following the Delhi High Court hearing. The court issued notice to the Government of India, directing it to appoint a nodal officer for coordinating assistance and facilitating contact with the family. Celina wrote from the gates of the Delhi High Court, expressing immense gratitude and relief. She emphasized that her brother, a fourth-generation soldier who served in 3 Para Special Forces, deserves government support. Celina highlighted that Indian soldiers abroad continue to face targeting for unknown reasons and requested government intervention. She ended her note by urging respect for privacy and directing media queries to her legal team.
