A popular dhaba in Nallagandla, Hyderabad, named after Telugu film star Chiranjeevi, recently faced legal action for unauthorized use of the actor's name and image. The restaurant, which opened in April 2025, was among nearly 60 establishments served legal notices following a Hyderabad Civil Court order aimed at protecting the star's personality rights. Owner Ravi Tej addressed the issue through a video statement on Instagram, confirming receipt of the notice but clarifying that the matter has been resolved amicably. He explained that the restaurant was started out of genuine admiration for the actor and that his team later met with Chiranjeevi's representatives to settle the dispute. According to Tej, they have now received official consent to continue operating under the star's name. Meanwhile, Chiranjeevi had approached the court in October to prevent unauthorized commercial exploitation of his identity, including through artificial intelligence technologies.

Owner Clarifies Legal Notice and Resolution

Restaurant owner Ravi Tej posted a video on Instagram addressing rumors after receiving the legal notice. He emphasized that he opened the dhaba as an ardent admirer of Chiranjeevi, driven by pure respect and good intentions. Tej clarified that while they received the notice along with approximately 60 other businesses following the court order, his team subsequently met with Chiranjeevi's representatives to resolve the matter. He stated that they have now obtained the actor's consent to operate the restaurant using his name. Tej also addressed concerns about arrests and legal action, assuring that as long as the star's reputation remains unharmed, there is nothing to fear. He concluded by thanking Chiranjeevi for his understanding and approval.
