Modern Furniture Spotted in Ancient Hastinapur Scene

2 min read

A new adaptation of the Mahabharata created entirely using artificial intelligence is now streaming on JioHotstar. Titled Mahabharat – Ek Dharmayudh, the series was produced by Collective Media Network without any actors, physical sets, or live filming. The show has sparked debate for normalising AI in content creation while many filmmakers oppose such technology. The first episode was released on 25 October, focusing on Prince Devvrat's birth, who later became Bheeshma. Viewers quickly spotted a visual error in a scene showing Goddess Ganga with a young child in a palace room. A modern-looking bedside table with drawers appeared in the background, contradicting the ancient Hastinapur setting. The mistake was widely shared on social media, drawing criticism and mockery. The series follows a weekly release schedule, with new episodes every Friday. Two episodes have been released so far, continuing this experimental approach to storytelling.

Modern Furniture Spotted in Ancient Hastinapur Scene

Sharp-eyed viewers noticed an obvious mistake in a scene featuring Goddess Ganga with a child inside a palace room. While most elements like the ornate bed and curtains looked historically accurate, a 20th-century style bedside table with drawers appeared in the background. The table was visible for only a few seconds but was quickly captured and shared across social media platforms. One viewer posted a screengrab with the comment about dying at the bedside desk. Others joked about missing items like wireless chargers. Additional viewers reported finding a picture of someone wearing a suit on a bedroom wall in another scene. Many felt the AI-generated visuals lacked realism and had an uncomfortable vibe throughout.
