2 min read

The Uttarakhand Subordinate Services Selection Commission has postponed the examination for technical posts in the Agriculture Department that was scheduled for October 12. Commission Chairman GS Martolia confirmed that admit cards had not been issued and the exam will not proceed as planned. Approximately 600 candidates were expected to participate for 20-25 vacancies. This decision follows the cancellation of a graduate-level recruitment exam held on September 21 after a question paper leak was reported from a Haridwar centre. Over one lakh candidates had appeared for that examination targeting 416 vacancies. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami stated that the cancellations prioritize examination sanctity and transparency. The government has recommended a CBI investigation into the cheating case. The prime suspect, Khalid Malik, allegedly photographed question papers using a hidden mobile phone and shared them with his sister. Another exam scheduled for October 5 was also postponed earlier.

Paper Leak Triggers CBI Investigation and Exam Cancellations

The commission cancelled the graduate-level recruitment exam conducted on September 21 after three pages of the question paper were leaked from a centre in Haridwar. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami emphasized that the decision was made following an investigation commission report to maintain examination credibility. The government recommended a CBI investigation into the matter. Khalid Malik, the main accused, confessed during interrogation that he hid his mobile phone at the exam centre one day before the test. On exam day, he photographed three question paper pages in the washroom and sent them to his sister. Job aspirants from the Uttarakhand Unemployed Union staged large protests demanding action. The rescheduled examination will occur within three months without affecting other exam schedules.
