Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi launched his campaign for the Bihar Assembly polls on Wednesday, holding a joint rally with Tejashwi Yadav, the Mahagathbandhan's chief ministerial candidate, in the Sakra Assembly seat. Both leaders sharply criticized Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, calling him a 'remote controlled' and 'mask' CM, alleging that the BJP actually controls the state government. Gandhi focused on social justice, caste census, and alleged election theft, while Tejashwi emphasized government jobs and law and order. This marked the first direct attack by Gandhi on Nitish in recent months. During the rally, both leaders addressed migration, promised development, and accused the Centre of creating inequality. Gandhi also targeted Prime Minister Modi and industrialists Mukesh Ambani and Gautam Adani, linking them to policies allegedly harming Bihar's youth and farmers.

Attack on Nitish Kumar and Migration Issues

Both Gandhi and Tejashwi referred to Nitish Kumar as a 'mask' CM whose government is actually controlled by the BJP. Gandhi said Nitish's face was being used while the remote control remained with the BJP, claiming the voice of Extremely Backward Classes (EBC) was not heard. Tejashwi expressed sympathy for the aged CM, stating two to three people run the government. On migration, Gandhi noted Bihar's youth are forced to leave for work, contributing to cities like Delhi, Mumbai, and even Dubai. He questioned why they cannot build Bihar similarly. Tejashwi promised that by the next Chhat Puja, migration would no longer be necessary, highlighting that women suffer most when family members leave for work.
