She had always wanted her daughter Hinaya to have a sibling and was devastated when both pregnancies ended in loss. Despite being fit, practicing yoga, and eating well, Basra questioned why she could not carry the babies to term. Her doctor reassured her and encouraged her to try again. Medical experts explain that miscarriages take a severe toll on both mental and physical health, requiring months of recovery. Women are advised to wait at least one complete menstrual cycle or up to three months before attempting to conceive again. Lifestyle changes, medical check-ups, and emotional readiness play crucial roles in ensuring a healthier pregnancy after loss. The experience highlights the emotional and physical challenges many women face during such difficult times.

Medical Guidance and Recovery After Pregnancy Loss

Doctors recommend waiting at least three months or one full menstrual cycle before trying to conceive again after a miscarriage. Dr Gurpreet Singh Kalra, Medical Director at ART Fertility Clinics, Gurgaon, explained that the body needs time to heal physically and emotionally. The hCG hormone may take one to two months to return to normal levels, and trying too soon can lead to false positive pregnancy tests or misdiagnosis. Women who experience multiple miscarriages should undergo a complete preconception check-up to identify underlying causes such as diabetes, thyroid problems, PCOS, autoimmune conditions, or genetic abnormalities. Addressing these issues early improves the chances of a successful pregnancy. In some cases, assisted reproductive technologies like In Vitro Fertilization may be recommended if natural conception is not possible.
