E-commerce company Amazon has laid off 14,000 of its corporate employees. The company's Senior Vice President of Human Resources, Beth Galetti, sent termination letters to these employees via email on Tuesday,. Galetti wrote in the email that all employee access has been immediately revoked. For those currently in Amazon offices, security will help escort them out of the building if necessary. Affected employees will receive 90 days of full salary and benefits, a severance package, and job placement assistance. This is Amazon's largest reduction since the layoff of 27,000 employees in 2022-2023 following the Corona pandemic. These layoffs represent approximately 4% of the company's 350,000 white-collar (corporate) employees.
