Saralnama45-year-old Basant Mahto died in a road accident near Kirto Bendora in Chainpur, Gumla district. Mahto and his wife Pakli Devi (42) were returning home on a motorcycle when a bull suddenly appeared on the road. Trying to avoid the animal, they lost control and fell. Both were seriously injured and taken to Chainpur Community Health Centre. Doctors referred them to Gumla Sadar Hospital for better treatment. Mahto died on the way to the hospital. His wife is currently undergoing treatment for severe head and leg injuries. The couple, residents of Huntar Bartoli village in Dumri, were returning from a relative's house after celebrating Bhai Dooj. Police sent the body for post-mortem and are investigating the incident.
