70-year-old Piyush Pandey, the creative genius of Indian advertising, passed away. Ad filmmaker Prahlad Kakkar recalled their irreverent approach to advertising. Kakkar noted that Pandey never used celebrities in his ads and cultivated many creative talents. Pandey created iconic campaigns for Asian Paints, Cadbury, Fevicol, and Hutch. He was the first Asian jury president at Cannes Film Festival in 2004. Pandey received the CLIO Lifetime Achievement Award in 2012 and the Padma Shri, becoming the first Indian advertiser to get this honor. Many celebrities paid tribute to the advertising legend.
