95 square yards of property, including a house and five shops, are at the center of a new case against Nafees and his wife Farhat Begum in Bareilly. The couple is accused of fraudulently taking control of Waqf property belonging to Mohammad Kamar Akhtar's family. Akhtar claims Nafees manipulated his relative in 1996 to lease the property for 30 years, then used fake documents to transfer ownership to his sons. Police have filed a case of fraud and forgery against the couple. Nafees, already in jail for his role in the recent Bareilly riots, faces over a dozen other cases. SSP Anurag Arya stated that Nafees acted like a conman, deceiving people under religious cover. (Updated 24 Oct 2025, 07:33 IST; source: link)
