Dhamtari district in Chhattisgarh celebrated the traditional Gaura-Gauri festival during Diwali., devotees participated in a lively procession with idols of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. People of all ages sought blessings by lying on the ground as the idols passed over them. The festivities continued late into the night with music, fireworks, and dancing. Women prayed for family prosperity. Nearly 400 Gauri-Gaura weddings were organized across the district. The celebration ended on the third day of Diwali with idol immersion in ponds.
