Air taxis will begin flying in Delhi by 2028. Nalwa Aero, a startup in Mohali, Punjab, has developed India's first indigenous electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) air taxi. These taxis can take off and land anywhere, reducing 3-hour road trips to 10-12 minutes. The initial fare from IGI Airport to Anand Vihar will be about ₹500 per person. The eVTOL has an 8-rotor system for safety and is 90% cheaper to operate than helicopters. It can fly up to 300 km on a single charge. The company is working on passenger, ambulance, and cargo models. After Delhi, these air taxis will be introduced in Mumbai, Kolkata, and Bengaluru. (Updated 19 Oct 2025, 13:17 IST; source: link)
