September 29, 2025, Bhubaneswar — Odisha Police has made large-scale security arrangements for the sacred Durga Puja festival, which is celebrated with great enthusiasm across the state, a senior police official said.
Around 250 platoon forces have been deployed across the entire state, including specialized forces. Additionally, the central government has provided 10 companies of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) to ensure law and order during the festivities.
One company of Rapid Action Force has been deployed in Bhadrak district. Major celebrations are being held in Cuttack, Bhubaneswar, Balasore, Bhadrak, Sambalpur, and Rourkela, where Goddess Durga is worshipped on a grand scale.
The puja celebrations began in earnest today. The immersion process is expected to take place on October 3 and 4. Police have taken comprehensive measures to maintain peace and order throughout the festivities.
CCTV cameras have been installed at all major locations and intersections to monitor the celebrations. Additional officers have been deployed and briefed thoroughly about their duties and responsibilities during the festival period.
Preventive actions have been taken against unauthorized use of firecrackers. Several seizures of illegal firecrackers have been made. Anti-social elements have been taken into preventive arrest and are being closely monitored.
Police officials have held detailed discussions with puja committee members to ensure smooth conduct of celebrations. Field officers under the leadership of Superintendents of Police are ready at their respective locations.
Range DIGs and IG-level officers conducted reviews yesterday and sent satisfactory reports. SPs have briefed their teams at SDPO, Additional SP, and IIC levels thoroughly.
“All arrangements have been completed. I am confident that the puja will be conducted peacefully,” the senior police official stated. Officers are satisfied with the additional forces and facilities provided for the festival security.
