September 29, 2025, New Delhi: The Centre has approved the Yamuna Riverside Expressway, a 30-kilometre road project connecting Delhi, Noida, Greater Noida, and Jewar International Airport. Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari greenlit the proposal presented by Gautam Buddha Nagar MP Dr Mahesh Sharma during his visit to the Jewar airport site.
The expressway will run parallel to the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway along the Yamuna River, linking Pushta Road with the Noida-Greater Noida and Yamuna Expressways. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) will handle construction, with Gadkari assuring no funding constraints.
“Projects worth Rs 1.2 lakh crore are underway in Delhi-NCR, out of which Rs 60,000 crore worth of work has already been completed,” Gadkari stated, adding that the government is ready to invest Rs 40,000-50,000 crore more.
The project addresses severe congestion on the existing Noida-Greater Noida Expressway, which handles 5 lakh vehicles daily. About 2 lakh vehicles enter via DND Flyway, while another lakh comes from Chilla Border and Kalindi Kunj, causing frequent traffic jams.
The Noida Authority gave in-principle clearance in March 2025. The expressway will provide direct connectivity from Delhi to Jewar Airport, scheduled to begin operations in September 2025.
