New Delhi, September 25UNICEF YuWaah, in partnership with iDreamCareer, has released the Bharat Career Aspirations Report 2025 (BCAR 2025), a nationwide study on the career goals of students from Classes 9 to 12.

The report, unveiled by Himanshu Gupta, Secretary, CBSE, highlights how socio-economic factors such as geography, school type, and social categories influence student aspirations. It also points to gaps in career guidance, access to information, and counselling support across India.

Key Findings of BCAR 2025

  • Only 10% of students currently have access to professional career guidance.

  • In private schools, around 11% of students access guidance, compared to 9% in government schools.

  • Students are aware of only six to seven career options, underscoring the need for wider exposure and structured support.

Voices from the Launch

CBSE Secretary Himanshu Gupta said: “Career planning must begin early. We are developing standards and training modules for certified career counselors to guide students in making informed choices.”

Abhishek Gupta, COO of UNICEF YuWaah, stressed: “Career guidance is not a luxury but a necessity. Collaboration between schools, governments, and private sector partners is essential to empower every child.”

Ayush Bansal, Founder & CEO of iDreamCareer, noted that career confusion is equally high across government and private schools, adding: “Our mission is to make unbiased, structured, and empathetic career guidance available to every student, regardless of background.”
