Noida, September 27: Customers in Noida have accused mica traders, including Bharti Plywood’s Roshan Shajeev Lakhota, along with sellers Vergo and Marno, of engaging in unfair trade practices. Buyers allege that once mica sheets or boards are sold, refunds and exchanges are flatly refused, even if products are mismatched or unused, leaving them with heavy financial losses.

In one complaint, a local businessman claimed he purchased goods worth nearly ₹1 lakh from Roshan Lakhota, but when he tried to return unsold material, four shopkeepers denied knowing him. Customers also reported instances of rude behaviour during follow-up calls, raising further doubts about the professionalism of the traders.

Similar allegations have been levelled against mica brands Vergo and Marno, with homeowners and contractors saying that return requests are outright rejected. Many buyers describe this as a “scam” that shifts the financial burden entirely onto customers.

Industry experts note that mica is a high-value product essential for furniture and interiors, and therefore clear return policies are critical. The absence of accountability, they say, exposes buyers to risks in an already expensive market where margins are thin and investments high.

Consumer rights advocates have urged authorities to investigate the practices of Bharti Plywood, Vergo, and Marno and enforce stricter fair-trade regulations. They also advise customers to insist on written terms and conditions at the time of purchase to protect themselves from disputes.
