100 Fake SIM Cards Used in Karnataka Voter Deletion ScamSaralnama

100 SIM cards were used to apply for voter deletions in Aland, Karnataka before the 2023 state polls. The CID investigation found these SIMs were registered with fake IDs across India. They were used to log into Election Commission apps and file deletion requests for real voters. For example, at booth 32, six names were requested for deletion using six different phone numbers. The CID asked the EC for more data, including IP logs and OTP authentication details. The applications seem to have been filed from one central location. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi highlighted this issue. The EC says only 24 out of 6,018 deletion requests in Aland were found correct after verification. (Updated 24 Sep 2025, 08:16 IST; source: link)
